Mixel is a desktop app for people who make music.

It keeps your sounds in one Library on your own computer, runs small apps that each do one job, and helps you find a sound by describing it or humming it.

Mixel's Library window. A search for “dry vocal chop in D minor” is shown as three filters: Sounds like dry chop, Tag is vocal, Key is D minor. Four vocal chops are listed, each with a line saying why it matched.
The Library in the current build: a search in words, shown as filters you can change.

What it does

Your Library
Add the folders where your sounds already live. Mixel indexes them in place, measures key, tempo and length, and never copies, moves or renames a file.
Apps that do one job
Small apps run on your own computer: separate vocals, take out reverb, convert a file. Each one asks before it touches your files.
Ask your Library
Describe a sound in plain English, like “dry vocal chop in D minor”. Mixel shows what it understood and why each sound matched. It runs on your computer.
Hum to find
Hum a melody and Mixel finds the loops in your Library that carry it, in any key or tempo. The recording isn't kept unless you keep it.
